A 3 year program to provide STEM training for 2 lakh women

More than 15K commitments from SE India ( highest in all countries), covered 45 schools and touched the lives of 4500 children. Provided life-changing experience for men by being a facilitator of the program.

 Weekly communication letters, SMS were sent and each leader’s personal commitment was displayed across offices to maximize participation. 2 rock shows, 2 marathons and HeForShe kiosks were arranged to impact outsiders as well. Also, engaged with over 25 educational institutions.

IBM, on its latest endeavor of empowering women, is all set to train two lakh women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills across India. The company said each collaboration between IBM and Indian state governments is part of a three-year program to increase the participation of girls and women in STEM careers.

 

Activities 

 

IBM has signed agreements with states of Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and has plans to take this program to other states in time ahead. Other initiatives include a two-year Advanced Diploma Program in emerging technologies created in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, which will be available to 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), including 50 all-women ITIs, over the next three years; supporting math teachers across India with Teacher Advisor With Watson in collaboration with the Kendriya Vidyalaya school networks; making Teachers TryScience resources accessible to four million teachers in the Indian Open Educational Resources community for STEM.

Increasing use of transformative technologies like cloud, AI, ML has created demand for a highly qualified workforce. IBM wants to work with government to better equip the workforce with a new generation of skills, so the positive impact of AI and other technology can be experienced in a larger scale, rather than just a few.
